On biting the bullet (and banana penguins)

Let’s face it – we are all constantly on the pursuit of happiness. It’s only human nature.

However, life being life likes to make things a little interesting and throws us the odd curveball every so often. Sure, a slight challenge adds spice into the mix and ensures that we are always kept on our toes, but it’s when it all gets a bit too much that things start to go awry. Before you know it, you feel as though you’ve been knocked clean off your feet, and have been left to drown in a murky sea of negativity. It’s pretty much nigh on impossible to pursue anything in this state.

I’m currently swimming towards the shore after being flung into said sea myself. The past few years have brought me face to face with lots of nasty curveballs and difficult decisions aplenty, and it’s only been in fairly recent times that I feel as though things are finally on the up. Hanging in there!

The idea of starting a blog is one that I have toyed with countless times, but have somehow always managed to talk myself out of. I finally decided to bite the bullet.

I’d like this blog to be a place where I can deliver you frequent chunks of positivity in various forms – from advice on lifestyle and health to the just plain silly, and everything in between.  By sharing my personal experiences, if I may be of some help in the smallest way, or bring a smile to any of you at all, whether you’re going through something similar or something totally different, then I’ll feel as though I’ve achieved what I set out to do 🙂

If you like the sound of all this then it is lovely to have you on board! Do feel free to get in touch with any suggestions, questions or comments you may have – I promise I won’t bite!

Until next time however, I shall leave you with the following slightly random yet undeniably charming offering to spruce up your next snack time (who doesn’t like penguins?):

HOW TO MAKE A BANANA PENGUIN*

*I am by no means claiming to have invented something revolutionary. This is just for a bit of fun and silliness!

penguin1

You will need:

– A banana

– A knife (optional, but I have used one here to make it easier to show you)

penguin2

Step 1: Open the banana from the top, with the stalk pointing towards you, making sure that the segment you peel is roughly a third and that the stalk is fully intact on this one segment of peel. Peel until about halfway down the length of the banana.

penguin3

Step 2: Peel the remaining skin into two halves, leaving you with the three peeled thirds as required.

penguin4

Step 3: Chop (or chomp) about 4cm worth of the banana. Flip the stalked segment over…

penguin5

Step 4: Voilà – there you have it, a little penguin buddy. I told you I hadn’t reinvented the wheel…

Really nice work! Only, you forgot to give a cautionary warning for using the knife (looks damn sharp!) 😛
    Fantastique! Keep it up!
